★ Semi Permanent Make Up(SPMU)

enlarge photo

Semi Permanent Make Up (SPMU - also known as permanent cosmetics, derma graphic art, micro pigmentation or cosmetic tattooing) is a procedure whereby minute particles of natural and synthetic iron oxide colour pigments are implanted a little more than 1 mm below the skin surface using a hand piece tool that holds a sterile needle grouping. The depth varies depending on which area of the face is being pigmented.

We all want to look good and feel great. Looking good helps you feel confident and ready to face the day, but our hectic lifestyles mean many of us struggle to find the time to apply perfect make up every morning. SPMU offers an ideal solution, giving you defined eyebrows, wide awake eyes and fuller lips 24 hours a day. Our treatments will give you a natural look which can last years, saving you valuable time and money.

Lip liner is a treatment that defines and accentuates the shape of your lips beautifully.

Full treatment time is around 2 hours.

Full Lip Blush

A full lip blush is a wonderful treatment for anyone and especially for those with thin or pale lips. Once we define and apply your lip liner, the full body of the lips is then filled with your chosen colour to leave a long-lasting, fuller and more striking look. For the fullest effect a few sessions are recommended, as blush can fade from around 40-80 percent to leave the more natural colour in its place.

Full treatment time takes around 2.5 hours.

Pigment Colours & Styles

There's a wide range of colours available for lips, eyebrows and eyeliner from soft natural colours to more vibrant and striking colours. We always recommend our clients visit us to discuss exactly what they're looking for. We can then really understand our clients' desires and our clients can understand all the options available (colours, procedures and styles).

A consultation will be carried out before any treatment to:

  • advise and ensure you are happy with the treatment procedure
  • answer any questions on procedures and expectations
  • discuss the colour and style of SPMU that you desire
  • Arrange any paperwork, including a medical check form to make sure treatment is safe and suitable for you.

Once the consultation is complete, we can then confirm your appointment accordingly to deliver exactly what you're looking for.

A £50 non refundable deposit is required when booking. The deposit will be deducted from the cost of your treatment.

We'll discuss aftercare during your treatment and give you detailed instructions to take home. It is very important to follow your aftercare instructions for best results and to prevent chances of infection. Here's a list of the fundamental aftercare considerations following your SPMU:

  • The treated area must be left to heal untouched
  • No make up should be used whatsoever on the treated area for at least 7-10 days following your appointment
  • Picking or scratching the treated area will withdraw the added pigment from your skin leaving an uneven result that will require further work to correct it (please note: any correction work will need booking as an additional chargeable appointment).

How old do I need to be?

You must be aged 18 years or over to be eligible for SPMU treatment at STAR Advanced Beauty

I'm pregnant. Can I still have SPMU?

No. We do not recommend or offer SPMU treatment to anyone who is pregnant.

How long does SPMU last?

SPMU can last between 18 months and five years but will fade over the longer term. The fading is important as minor adjustments are required regularly to ensure that the overall image looks natural and complimentary to other areas of the face that may have changed colour or texture. We recommend a top up treatment every 12 months to keep your SPMU looking fresh.

Does SPMU hurt?

A local anaesthetic will be applied to the area being worked on before and during the treatment to help with any discomfort. We make sure every client is as comfortable and relaxed as possible during all forms of SPMU treatment.

I use a sunbed regularly. Will this affect my SPMU?

If you use sun beds on a regular basis please be aware that the UV light will break down the pigment faster so you will need refresher top ups sooner than most.

Clients who have skin where the pigment does not hold very well may require a third session to complete the treatment. We offer a third treatment at £99.00 when booked within 3 months of the previous top-up.

Is there anything else I should worry about before my treatment?

There's nothing to worry about. We make sure of that. A free consultation with STAR Advanced Beauty prior to your appointment requires us to assess your medical condition via a medical consent form. At this stage we can establish whether SPMU is or is not suitable for you.
